Privacy Policy
This English version is provided for convenience only. The legally binding version is the German Datenschutzerklärung.
1. Data protection at a glance
This website has been deliberately designed to collect as little data as possible. We use no analytics or tracking tools, no advertising cookies and no social media plugins. Fonts are loaded locally from our own server. External content (the location map) is only loaded once you have given your explicit consent.
We only process personal data to the extent necessary to operate the website, to respond to your enquiries or on the basis of your consent. Below, we provide you with detailed information in accordance with Art. 13 GDPR.
2. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
Design71 – Agentur für Mediendesign
Owner: Dipl.-Ing. Meriç Ilkan
Alt-Mariendorf 45
12107 Berlin, Germany
Phone: +49 30 695 15 870
Email: info@dsn71.com
We are not legally required to appoint a data protection officer and have not done so. If you have any questions about data protection, please contact us directly at the address above.
3. Hosting and server log files
Hosting
This website is operated on a server provided by Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany, in a data centre located in Germany. We have concluded a data processing agreement with Hetzner in accordance with Art. 28 GDPR.
Server log files
When you visit the website, our web server automatically processes information transmitted by your browser: IP address, date and time of access, page or file requested, amount of data transferred, HTTP status code, referrer URL, and browser type and operating system.
This processing is technically necessary to deliver the website and to ensure the security and stability of the system (e.g. to fend off attacks). The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Log files are only stored for a short period and are then deleted automatically, unless they are needed to investigate a specific security incident.
SSL/TLS encryption
For security reasons, this website uses SSL/TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” and the padlock symbol in your browser's address bar.
4. Cookies and local storage
This website sets no cookies for visitors. We only store the following entries in your browser's local storage, and only once you use the respective feature yourself:
- theme: your chosen display mode (light/dark) if you use the toggle.
- mapConsent: your consent to loading the location map, so that you don't have to give it again on every visit.
These entries contain no personal identifiers, are not transmitted to us and serve solely the function you have requested (Section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG). You can delete them at any time via your browser settings. Your choice of language is reflected solely in the web address (/en) and is not stored.
Only in the password-protected editorial area (/admin), which is used exclusively by us, is a technically necessary session cookie set for logging in.
5. Contact form
If you send us an enquiry via the contact form, we process the data you enter: first name, last name, email address, type of project and your message, as well as – optionally – company, phone number, existing website, budget and preferred start date. We use this data solely to process your enquiry and to reply to you. You will also receive an automatic confirmation of receipt at the email address you provide.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where your enquiry relates to a contract or to pre-contractual measures, and otherwise our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
To protect against automated spam, we technically check whether a field that is invisible to humans has been filled in and how quickly the form is submitted. For this purpose, your IP address is held briefly in the server's memory to limit excessive numbers of requests within a short time; it is not stored permanently (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). No third-party captcha services are used.
The form data is not stored in a database on the website but is sent to us directly as an email. To send this email, we use the Resend service provided by Plus Five Five, Inc., 2261 Market Street #5039, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA. We have concluded a data processing agreement with the provider (Art. 28 GDPR). Plus Five Five, Inc. is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; data is transferred to the USA on the basis of the European Commission's adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR). Resend stores the email and delivery logs for up to 30 days.
Your enquiry remains in our email inbox until it has been fully dealt with. It is then deleted, unless statutory retention obligations apply (e.g. for business correspondence under German commercial and tax law).
6. Contact by email, phone or WhatsApp
If you contact us by email or phone, we process the data you provide in order to deal with your request (Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR). The same retention periods apply as for the contact form.
The WhatsApp button is a simple link. WhatsApp (WhatsApp Ireland Limited, Merrion Road, Dublin 4, D04 X2K5, Ireland) is only opened once you click it. WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to its processing of data. If you wish to send us confidential information, please use email or phone instead.
7. Location map (OpenFreeMap)
On the homepage, you can display an interactive map of our location. The map is only loaded after you click “Load map”. Before that, no data is transmitted to third parties.
Once you have given your consent, content is loaded from the following providers:
- Map data (OpenFreeMap): Hyperknot Software Kft., Hungary. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors. According to the provider, IP addresses are not logged by default and log files are deleted after seven days; the content delivery network of Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) may be used for delivery.
- Map libraries (Leaflet, MapLibre): loaded via the unpkg.com service, which is delivered through the network of Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
For technical reasons, your IP address is transmitted to these providers. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR, Section 25 (1) TDDDG). You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future:
8. Links to external services
Our website contains links to external services, e.g. Google Maps (route planning), Google reviews or our social media profiles. These links are simple references: data is only transmitted once you click a link and open the external page. The privacy policy of the respective provider applies there.
9. Your rights
Within the scope of the statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to
- access the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- withdraw any consent you have given, with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR).
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
Where we process data on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, you may object to the processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation.
Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is: Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information), Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.
To exercise your rights, an informal message to info@dsn71.com is sufficient.
10. General information
Providing your data is neither a legal nor a contractual requirement. However, we cannot process your enquiry without the information marked as mandatory in the contact form. No automated decision-making, including profiling, takes place.
We will update this privacy policy whenever the website or the legal requirements change.
